Philipp Hesel is a Senior Associate at Aurora Energy Research and leads the German Flexibility Market Report and German Grid Report. He specialises in battery storage economics, flexibility markets, redispatch, and grid congestion, supporting investors, developers, and policymakers in understanding the future value of flexibility in Germany’s power system.
Since joining Aurora in 2021, Philipp has played a key role in developing the firm’s flexibility and grid offering in Germany across both research and advisory projects. Prior to Aurora, he worked in long-term power market modelling. He holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
